Do you want to make a dinosaur quilt for your grandson search "dino"  all the fabric we have that has a dinosaur on it should pop into the new page.  Click on the theme or collection category for inspiration.

If you aren't sure - try some fan favorite searches "deer"  , "horse", "cat" , "cow" "hedgehog", "Harry", "skeleton", "spider", "Snowflake" , "Pink flannel", "solid black", "patriotic" , "Quilt of Valor", "flag", Shopping can be fun - just type in whatever you think might be fun or a good next project theme to sew - of course "Christmas", "Halloween", "NFL", "Steeler", are fun to search and review as well.

Start with What You Know

The best place to begin is with the basics. Think about the type of fabric you're looking for. Are you searching for fabric with horses on it? looking for an ocean theme? Maybe you have a specific color in mind, like navy blue or floral patterns. Start simple with searches like "horse" or "dinosaur" and see what comes up. When Mary Jo lists the fabrics in the computer she tries to think of the quilt theme or project and tries to put the same word in the description for fabrics that go together.  We sort all the fabric by theme so you can look in the ocean collection or for a dog.  If you are looking for inspiration for a project - go to the novelty fabrics - these are unique fabrics not in a theme and one might strike your fancy.  Mary Jo Fabrics carries quality fabrics by the quarter yard with no minimums, so you can experiment without committing to large quantities as well as just order what you need for the project.  If you need flannel for a baby blanket you don't have to order two yards just order the 1.25 yards you need for each blanket.

Use Specific Keywords for Better Results

Once you've got the basics down, get more specific. If you're looking for coordinating prints that work together, try searching for fabric collections or designer names. Many quilters love finding coordinating prints that create a cohesive look for their projects. Search terms like "quilt of valor" or specific collection names can help you discover fabrics that naturally complement each other.  Click on the Magnifying Glass and search "Wee Ones" or "Winnie the Pooh" or "Pooh" or "Defender of Freedom"  We try to help you find the ones that go together or will inspire you to combine in your project.

Shop by Your Project Type

Think about what you're actually making. Are you working on a quilt, a sewing project, or a DIY home decor piece? Searching by project type helps narrow things down. Try terms like "baby blanket" or "quilt panel" to find materials specifically suited to your needs.

Browse Mary Jo Fabrics Efficiently

Here's the great thing about Mary Jo Fabrics: you can shop cotton fabric by the yard with no minimums. This means you can search for exactly what you need without worrying about bulk purchases. The quarter-yard feature makes it easy to grab just enough fabric for your project.  If you make scrub caps or microwave bowl cozies, try ordering a 0.25 yard of 10 different fabrics then you can come back and order more if customers like one or two fabrics more than the others.

Refine Your Search Strategy

Don't be afraid to combine search terms. If you're looking for a specific style, try pairing color descriptors with fabric types. For example, "floral quilting cotton" or "solid coordinating prints" can yield more targeted results.  Shop Our Aisles and scroll through the different themes - scroll down and have fun looking and shopping.  Half the fun of sewing is shopping until you come across the fabric that causes the light bulb to go off - ahh that would be perfect for a shirt or whatever you want to make.  If you can dream it, you can make it!
